Hipshot xtenders - tension on the rest of the strings So I have decided that I really want to transition back to using four strings. I think the E string on a four string bass tends to resonate a bit better, and the geography of the neck is a far nicer fit for my hand. The problem: sometimes on certain gigs I need that D, or even C#. Solution: Hipshot double-stop Xtender. Haven't bought it yet, though. The next problem: I've been playing around with dropping my bass into drop D. No real problems to report there. However, when tuning to drop C, the A, D, and G strings get noticeably sharp. I doubt it very much, but does the Hipshot gear alleviate that problem? Have other players noticed this? If there's nothing to be done about it I may just have to stick to using fivers on some gigs. Or get an octave pedal for anything below D . . . . |
