Hofner 500/1 little issue

Sign in to disble this ad
anyways the issue is on the A string 14 fret when i play it the note has sustain but it sorta like fades in and out and rattles.

I tried every other note on the A and they are all fine, to be honest i never play on the 14th especially on a hofner bass but just wanted to see what you guys would say.

Thanks

interesting i loosen up the E and A strings to move the floating bridge forward and now the issue went to the 12th fret

update: just moved the floating bridge more forward almost touching the bridge pick-up and all the notes are perfect and sound clear.

This is where it was designed to be. (Where it would be with the pick guard on.)

have noticed in photos of mostly old hofners the bridge is just about touching the bridge.
is this the preferred position?
