Hofner:need advice from my brethren

Sign in to disble this ad
So i just got a new Hofner,b-series but its soo damn beautiful. the tone is amazing, and Paul would be proud. the only thing i can say bad about it is the tuning heads are made of cheap plastic. There is the problem, wehn i went to put new strings on it, the E broke.
Such a pain in the ass, I cant find the parts i need to fix it.
So i turn to you. If you could find me a site where i can order these parts cheap that would be great!

-Thanx
Andrew

P.S.
Heres a link to the exact one i got.

Hi.

I guess You mean the machine head buttons, right?

Those machine heads have the knurled shafts rather than a slotted one with a screw to take up the slack and adjust the tension as "gotoh" style has IIRC. The old ones have the screw to hold the button in place and mine (182) have stayed on from -67 or so.

If the bass is new, it's under warranty still, so use it.

Regards
Sam

Doesn't really matter who paid for it. Still under warranty. Let the store know. Send pics. Maybe they'll just mail you a replacement.
Doesn't hurt to try.

Good luck.

Hofner parts are expensive. This guy http://www.guitar-parts.com/ sells sets of tuners but not individually. Like the others said, I'd go the warranty route.

Hi.

^Holy CRAP.

With the price of the machine heads and the loaded control plate You can sometimes score a vintage 182. Insane.

I paid WAY less for the 182 a couple of years ago.

Hey Andrew!

I just got one as a gift as well. The switches and control knobs don't seem to work in a conventional manner on mine. When the bass and treble switches are in the "on" position (down) I get no sound, as if they were wired backwards. Plus, the switch closest to a volume control seems to turn the one furthest away on/off - again backwards!

Did you get warrenty cards and an owners manual with this? I didn't and I haven't been able to find any on line!

Let me know

Mick
