Talking how can i raise pickup height?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all
I have Emg 45Dc's in my Soundgear, and wanna raise the height closer to the strings... problem is, the screws are at the extent of their reach right now. Is there anything i can put under the pickups to raise them? I was thinking something like foam...
Many thanks!

if they have springs then try using shorter springs. Make sure the screws don't dig into the wood of the pickup rout, so you may need shorter screws as well.

You are going to need longer screws. I always pack the underside of the pickups with either high density foam or rubber block deonding on the style of music the bass will be used for. On basses that are played hard I uss rubber blocks because the tendency to play hard also bring the tendency to push down on the pickups which throws their adjustment out of whack while you are playing and when you stop they return to their set position. I NEVER use springs.

1. If your screws are at max height, buy longer screws.

2. Buy some packing foam (Not styrofoam) or that squishy rubbery type mat, or call the memory foam mattress place and ask for a sample of their foam (Luxury pickup rest).

Dennis - What kind of foam are you using and where are you getting it?

Thanks!
