How to clean Rumblefish Phenolic??

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi All. Proud owner of a vintagey rumblefish, and I am wanting to know how to clean the body, which is made of phenolic. The materal looks and feels like the table of a diner, but rubbing a soapy dishrag over it would feel like blasphemy. HELP!!

Um, well that's exactly what you could do! The surfaces of the Rev's are a high pressure laminate, more commonly used for countertops. It's designed especially to wear and resist permanant dirt. It's also easy to clean. You could remove the strings and take a good kitchen spray cleaner and a soft rag to it without fear. If you are shy and don't want to spray directly on the body, put it on your rag and scrub away.

I've heard of these things but never seen one in action. They're completely dry aren't they?

Ammonia (just a small amount)and water works best for me and is a great de-greaser that leaves no soapy residue. I've used it on my kitchen counters for years with no ill effects. My wife likes tthe Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I say, why pay all that extra money for something so simple to clean?

Oh wow...thanks guys this is pretty funny. I thought I would be crucified on here if I mentioned to anyone that I cleaned my bass with AMMONIA!!! If that's what works, however, then that's what I'll do. This is just another thing I am coming to love about this bass. It's got more character than Cosmo Kramer on speed...Thanks for the responses guys!
