How do I find a good repair person in/near my town?

Sign in to disble this ad
Is there any kind of directory or review resource out there?
I live in PA a little north of Philly and I can't find any reccomendations or even listings near me.
Yes, there are "guitar shops" but that could mean anything.
I need a good repair person.
Any help would be appreciated.

thank you,

Mark

Hopefully not Bucks County....LMAO

The best bet is to talk to other musicians through travels, shows, internet forums etcetera. If you have music stores that DO NOT have a repairman, find out who they send their repair work to or who they direct work to. They are not going to reccommend a bad repairman, as this would reflect directly on them and cost them business. You will find in a short period of time on many forums, what names come up most often.
Good Luck

@ Musiclogic... yes the one guy I have used in teh past is such an A-Hole that I swore I would not give him any more business. His work and price were good, but he was incredibly rude and my bass came back FILTHY with a new knick that that wasn't there before.

@ mikeyswood He actually has time to do repairs?

@ mordechai yes, I saw that, but unfortunately there is nothing in my area- and the ones that are listed are dead links.

There is a newish Bass retail store in Bensalem, PA Bass Specialties, I think I will call them and see what they recommend.
Any direct referrals would be appreciated.

Thanks all!
Mark

You might try asking on the local Craigslist in the musicians forum.

I don't, I'm just asking, what's wrong with it? Because..Musiclogic said "Hopefully not Bucks County...", so I'm curious as to what's wrong with it. Go into Philly, there are a bunch of shops and such that'll do what you want, I'm sure. And if you don't want to go because of your bass, there are always guys wanting to sell you some pot...
