I am going to buy some Schaller strap locks, but I cant figure out how to remove the stock strap buttons from my Ricky 4003... I assume you have to twist them, but with what? I just figured there would be screws down in the middle of them, but when I looked, there wasnt. Advice please?
I know... this is a dumb question, but I just want to make sure how to do it before I try because I don't want to break anything.
Thanks. |

Don't bother with the buttons you bought, they won't work without a kludge. Rics generally don't use a screw, the button itself is threaded.
Contact the Rickenbacker Page and buy a set of 05904 Schaller buttons. http://www.the-music-connection.com/ricpart.htm

Thanks a lot. |

I have recently discovered that the strap buttons on my Ric 4003 are the Schaller ones designed for Ric's for use with the Schaller locking system. I am thinking about ordering a new set of strap locks (for my other bass). Will the normal locking part work with the buttons designed for Rickenbackers? This was I could use the same lock with both of my basses.
The title says urgent because I want to order them NOW, so I need replies ASAP.
Thanks. |

It is too late anyway, I already ordered them.. Oh well, I need some for my old bass anyway, so if it doesnt fit.. Oh well. |

Yes. Yes. Imagine pulling a nail with a claw hammer, plus a pin that goes in the hole to keep the strap end from falling off.
