Question How do I Stop My Saddles From Rattling?

Sign in to disble this ad
I play an Ibanez GSR206 6 string, I recently adjusted my action, and the E,A,D,G, and C strings all make a rattling noise at the saddle when they are played open now. I've readjusted the intonation for the raised action but I can't get them to stop rattling, it's driving me insane. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Try putting either green threadlock or bee's wax on the adjuster screws for the saddles and the height screws. Should snug everything right up.

Note: Don't go overboard with the threadlocker. Just a light glazing of liquid will do the trick.

First, make sure each saddle is level and not tilting to one side or the other (meaning both set screws are the same height). Then make sure the strings don't touch the intonation adjustment springs.

I'm just spitballin' here, but I seem to recall when I had an Ibanez 1000 years ago, there was an allen wrench screw that I had to tighten on each saddle to lock it down.

Just make sure everything on the bridge is snugged up. Obviously don't tighten things so much it ruins your setup!

Also, are you sure it's the saddles that are rattling? A while back my 'bridge' was driving me crazy with it's rattling until I realised it was actually a loose pickup screw. :/
