How do i tweak my bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought a Fender Jazz Bass as my first bass. My friend tells me to never accept a bass taken off the shelf as playable and that I should set it up propperly. How might I do this?

set-up and tweeking

My suggestion would be to take it to a store with a reputable service dept, since you're new to it, and ask them to do it. But instead of just sitting there waiting on it, ask if the tech can walk you through the steps and precautions and all. I know I'm more than willing to help someone out who doesn't know what to do. Adjusting the neck can be the quick ruin of a nice new bass. It's a touch that has to be developed. Be Careful!
