Maple necks are lacquered, just like the body, so you clean them the same way. I just use a guitar polishing liquid and a soft cloth.

i use both guitar polish and lemon oil, i put the lemon oil on every couple of months or so(more so if the climate is dry)and i use fender g/polish every couple of days judging by how much i play that perticuler inst.(i own 3 basses and i alternate between them)

Lemon oil is not for lacquer...I use it on ebony boards.

Lemon oil is for untreated fingerboards, such as ebony, pau fero, rosewood etc. Maple boards are lacquered, so guitar polish is all you need.

My stingray's neck is not lacquered. I use lemon oil to clean it. It works fairly well but I can tell the baord has darkened a bit over time.
