How to extract trussrod nut?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've inhereted a Squier black shiny fretless lined neck.

The previous owner has stripped the inside of the adjustment nut.

Two questions here:

How best to tackle removing the old nut?

&

Where to find a replacement in the UK?

UPDATE:

The nut came out without great difficulty. Now the neck looks a bit like a banana!

I've clamped it under tension with a bit of a reverse bow and am heating it up periodically with a heat gun. I'm hoping a week of this treatment might make it useable once I can find a replacement nut.

You should be able to get a replacement nut from any shop that does repair work. Watch you don't overdo the clamping and heating or you can put in too much reverse bow that won't come out from string tension or you might also get too sharp a bend in one spot.

When you put in the new nut place 2-3 small washers on the rod first. This will give you a bit more purchase.
