How hard is it to replace pickup mounting screws?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm just getting into working on my own instruments. After figuring out how to adjust the pickup height, I've realized that a couple of the pickup screws have begun to strip (the heads of the screws are stripping that is) even though I was using the proper size screw driver. Anyway, I found that the guitarpartsresource sells Fender bass pickup screws and I'm contemplating replacing the ones I have on my own.

How difficult is it to do this (I assume not horribly)?

Any pointers (do all screws at once or one at a time)?

Should I go with Nickel or Chrome screws?

The bass is a Fender Tony Franklin Fretless. Really just the Precision pickup needs new screws, the Jazz pickup screws still look ok, though I may just do them all at once.

Thanks in advance.

Really, really easy.

One at a time (you really can't do it any other way unless you have a third arm)

Up to you between Nickel or Chrome--whatever you think looks best.
