Um, I actually have these in stock as part of my regular parts inventory that I keep here in the shop - If you get my gist And no, most hardware stores won't have exactly what you need. These are machined steel inserts, not the pressed metal versions, and are much stronger. The black stainless steel screws are a special order that I get from an out-of-state supplier. Stay away from the brass inserts if you use steel bolts because they can distort under torque and strip out. Only use them when you use brass screws.

i just went through this with my fretless jazz.
i put on the badass II, dropped in some dimarzio model J pups, added a thumbrest, and had the action set up. i love the way it sounds.
