How to improve tuning stability on my new Jazz

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently bought a new '10 Fender MIM Jazz Bass. It sounds and feels great, but I've had some difficulty with keeping it in tune while in drop C. What would be the best way to remedy this? I've been thinking about replacing the bridge and tuners to Hipshot products, but I really have no clue if that will help. Is it worth it to try and convert it to a string thru body?

Thanks in advance.

Nope - none of those options make sense. You probably need to use heavier gauge strings, have the nut adjusted for the gauge you choose, have the instrument set up for the drop tuning, and ensure the strings are properly set for the witness points at the nut and saddles. I would recommend you try a .125" for the C.
