I received my new parts bass today. It was assembled/setup by someone else. Unfortunately, the neck shifted in transit, so I had to loosen the neck screws, move the neck and retighten. So far everything looks to be in order but the action needs to be lowered.
It's been in transit and the neck's been "off". How long should I let it sit at room temp (at concert tuning of course) before doing "final tweaking?" I will be playing it in during this "settling in time." Just looking for some guidance. Thanks.
Mike

"At least a few minutes, but no more than a few days." Narrows it down quite a bit...

I'd say once it has sat with full string tension overnight, you're good to do anything you need to. There's absolutely nothing about that bass needs to 'settle in" other than the neck responding to the tension of the strings.
You don't need a few days - just overnight.

I must admit I got a little scared to see the neck moved like that...didn't think that was supposed to happen in transit. The bass was well-padded, but the whole "padded package" was too small for the box it was in. You could see how it could move around a lot. No damage to the bass though, other than the shifted neck.
I have successfully realigned the neck; all is well. I will wait a day or two for it to settle, then I'll tweak the action. Thanks again everyone.
