Sign in to disble this ad
Hey i was wondering how much a new bridge like one of the badass bridges would affect my tone i have a 4 string essex jazz bass the bridge is pretty thin not too much mass at all. so what im asking is how much will it affect the tone and in what way(making it fatter, more defined).

any input it appreciated

Since it is a different material, mass, etc. it probably does affect the tone - the question is, will it be audibly perceptible to you and if so will you consider it an improvement?

If you do a search on this topic you will see that the opinions range from "no effect at all" to "massive improvement." There is no consensus - some argue they are great while others argue they are worthless.

Pretty much like everything else on talkbass!

No effect at all. I did exactly that swap on exactly that bass and it made no difference. It was for looks only.
