I've done some looking and found sound $5 epoxys but I dont know if this will last on my fretless neck and since I plan on playin roundwounds on this bass I want something that will last. How much would a good epoxy that would get this job done cost me and where can I find it?

Hi Andy,

Check out StewMac.com for a good epoxy. The slower the setting time of the epoxy, the better the bond. You might also want to look into marine epoxies, supposedly that's what Jaco Patorius used on his bass.
Make sure when you spread the epoxy that it is relatively flat and even on the fretboard. It is possible to create buzz with the epoxy if it has hills or valleys and your action is set low. You want to spread a coat that's as thin as possible while still being thick enough that it doesn't chip easily. I would try a practice coat on a hardwood surface first so you get a feel for how the epoxy spreads (that is, if you've never used epoxy before). Good Luck!

Do you have spray equip and a respirator (at least)?
Check out polyester. Send a message to Kudela to see what he uses, I'm sure he'll oblidge. His poly fretless necks are incredible...

I used EnvironTex Lite on mine close to three years ago. It was relatively easy to do and shows virtually no signs of wear yet.
