how often do you tweak your setup

wood and strings can be a little unreliable when it comes to maintaining a precise set of gaps and distances like the ones required when setting up a bass
all sorts of things tend to effect it temp, humidity, stress from playing etc but how often do you tweak your action/neck relief/tuning etc and how often do you check it too?

myself i check the neck relief everytime i pick the bass up as i believe its the main thing that makes my bass as playable as it is however i only check the bridge saddles when replacing strings and sometimes i will go months without checking the tuning only to find my strings have all gone flat

how often do you tweak?

I gave up Meth 15 years ago.

Just kidding! On my Moduli, I tweak them once when I get them. On my wood necked basses, hardly ever.

I tune my basses whenever they come out of their gig bags.

I check everything very often, but rarely make changes.

Once set up to preferance, its normally only a couple times a yr, little truss rod adjustment due to winter and summer. Initial setup and honing it to best it can be ussually is 2 day thing for me with 2nd day being minor tweak of action for one or more strings.

On my Rickenbacker 4002, once I settled on GHS Progressives 45-60-80-105, I haven't had to touch it in at least fifteen years.

A couple of my basses require tweaking fairly often, as much as four or more times a year. I have a couple others that are very stable. I always make some minor adjustments as needed when I change strings.

"changing" basses
Gibson T-Bird: needs truss rod tweaks often, but is very responsive.
Jazz parts bass: has a 62 reissue neck from back when Fender sold necks in a long Crown Royal bag. Also need frequent truss rod tweaks and is also very responsive.

Stable
Carvin LB-75: stays consistent once set up properly.
Peavey Foundation S: very stable
Sigma STB-R acoustic: super stable

I'm obsessed with this! I have mia Fender Jazz and P bass. I keep my action very low so the slightest change in temperature or humidity will change my action.

Both basses are 2010 models and they are very responsive to truss rod adjustments. I adjust them like once a week depending. I live on long Island so it get very humid during the summer and very dry in the winter. If it snows the humidity gos up.

The only thing that bugs me about this is I wish the slot on the Fender pickguards were a little bit bigger by the truss rod adjustment. I have scrape marks on both pickguards. Even better would be to have a wheel adjuster like on the EB Musicman basses.

I check my setup and readjust:
1. When I change strings or string related parts (nut, bridge). This gets a full setup.
2. When the heat in my apartment gets turned on. (usually no adjustment necessary)
3. When the heat in my apartment gets turned off. (usually no adjustment necessary)
4. When I notice a string buzzes, but then it is usually only a bridge adjustment.

I tune my bass:
1. Anytime I take it out of its case.
2. If I notice the tuning is off.
3. Every morning after a string change until it does not need re-tuning for a few days in a row.
