how to repair pickguard holes on a jazz bass???

i recently replaced the pickguard on my jazz bass and noticed that one of the pickguard screw holes is not tight enough and it doesnt hold the screw properly , is there any way to fix this ???

The quick fix is a wooden toothpick or some slivers of wood inserted into the hole- many suggest a dab of glue, although I've skipped this step on strap button screws w/o problems- the key is to add enough material to size the hole down to the point the screw has something to grab onto, but not so tight that it you strip the screw.

Toothpick dipped in a little wood glue.

take a toothpick. push it as far into the screwhole as possible. Take note of how far in it goes. Break the tip of it off so that when inserted, there is nothing left protruding from the hole. The screw should then fit tightly into the hole.
