I just recently ordered a Goncalo Alves/Ebony neck from a guy, and when I received it there was some sort of residue left on the head stock. I asked him about it and he mentioned he had a Warmoth sticker on there and he quickly peeled it off.
Being that the neck isn't finished, could I use goo-be-gone? I don't want to ruin anything. What could I use?

Naptha is really just lighter fluid, so if you've got a local store that sells Zippo fluid or somethign similar that should work. Just in case you don;t want to use goo gone.

Naptha is lighter fluid. WD-40 is basically just an oil based solvent. I've used it to clean fret boards and strings before.

| | bassist for staind | | | | | i would try alcohol (rubbing) first. its not as strong as naptha. naptha seems to leave behind an oily residue when it dries on your fingers,(try it) if the wood is unfinished i would worry about that. |

| | | | Alcohol is definitely the only thing that will not leave a residue of any type. Try it first as long as there is no lacquer on the neck, otherwise you will make a mess.
