| ^ I wouldn't really go by that guide, since Fender basses have wider tuning pegs, and that guide tells you lengths to cut your string for narrower pegs. I used that guide the first time and I ended up having floppy strings. According to Fender.com, you should measure the string 4.5" past the corresponding peg and cut it there (4" for the E string). I used that and it worked better.
