Can anyone recommend a good guitar tech for me in Houston or the surrounding area? I need to have the pickups changed and action lowered on my 5-string.

please and thank you

Danny at Danny 'D's Guitar Hacienda in League City is great with any stringed instrument, but it's about 1/2 way to Galveston and not particularly cheap.

Thanks lug, price isn't necessarily an issue if the work is up to par. I'll check this guy out...

He's been local for >20 years and has a stellar rep around here. Mr. Nice Guy to boot. The shop is on Hwy 3 and 518 a bit south of Clear Lake.

yeah, Dallas is about a 4-hour drive from Houston. I actually found this place which is a lot closer to where I am in the city and they're endorsed by some great guitar manufacturers:

And let me add this note: I just left from this place and in case anyone else is planning to go there too, it's been moved from the actual Guitar Center, around the corner in to a residential area. The new address is 7702 Highmeadow but the number is the same. It's basically right behind Guitar Center. I talked to the guys at Guitar Center and they said they don't let anyone else touch their guitars except Ron Pace, he's highly recommended.

I've always heard really good stuff about Rockin Robin's http://www.rockinrobinguitars.com/ but have no personal experience with them.

funny you should mention RR lug, because that was going to be the next stop I was going to make. I may take my other bass there for a professional setup anyway to see how they do. They do have a stellar reputation at RR...
