I need help with the input jack, please.

So I have this problem with the input jack and naturally I came to the best group of bassists around for help. Out of my own carelessness, I left my bass sittin up against the wall right after I had played it to go get something. I left the cable in since I would be right back. While I was away my dog came in and knocked it over. As soon as I picked it up the cable fell to the ground... without the tip of it. So now I'm left wondering how to get the very tip of the cable out of the jack. Any help please please please. Thank you all.

If you can hear it rattling around in there, you could loosen the pickguard and tip the bass back and forth until it falls out. You might want to check the jack though; there's a flat springy metal contact in there that might need to be bent back to touch the tip (of a new plug).

Which bass is it? Does it even have a pickguard?
Judging from your current setup, I'd say you just need to pop off the cavity cover and find it. You could use a bent paper clip to shove the tip back out if it's just stuck in the jack. Otherwise it's in there loose somewhere. Be forewarned if it fell over and broke the tip off your input jack might need replacing.

Yep. That can work ... But you can easily get to the back of that input jack if you are slow and careful. Most people here take their gear apart at one time or another. Just keep a good track of the little parts/screws. I find dissembling guitars/basses/amps very rewarding in what I learn from it.

Yeah.. DemoEtc had a good point: perhaps the 'flat springy metal contact' has been bent out of shape a bit. you should be able to tell that right away once you can see it.

Its a Warwick Rockbass, so no pickgaurd. Its not loose. From what I can tell its just jammed in there. Whenever I plug in a new cable it goes in about 90% and then stops. I'll give the bent paperclip thing a try. Thanks again.
