I need help locating an adjustable nut

Sign in to disble this ad
I have been hunting around for anyone that can machine an adjustable nut for my 6 string fretless (similar to alembic's, not Warwick's "just a nut").
This is the the said subject:

I know a guy that does machine work (a fellow bass player), however I believe he is a bit too busy to take it on right now.The other aspect of this would be needing it to be black (like anodized Aluminum). I require a new nut because I want to get started on applying epoxy to the fingerboard. The original one is graphite, but it's epoxied to the headstock, so I will need to dremel it off. If anyone knows anybody that does machine work, I have dimensions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
/Jason

Question <UPDATE> Although i'm a bit confused

I have found the "just a nut" in a 55mm 6 string size, but only on the warwick.de site (not the US site though).Unfortunately I am perhaps mistaken by the euro price on shipping. The cost of the "just a nut" is 10 euro=$14.75 However fed ex euro, looked like 95,00 (or is it just 95?) euro=$140.15, is this right? Can anyone from Europe or Deutsch land chime in and confirm this?

Thanks

The price of a brass Just-a-nut 6 string is 20,80 € with an extra 19,90 € for the 55 mm option. This price includes VAT though and being out of EU you won't have to pay it so the price shall be (20,80+19,90)/1,19 = 34,20 €, roughly us$ 50. A bit expensive for a nut.
It seems that you're right about shipping, exclusive 95 € through Fedex. This too is insanely expensive, that's what you'd pay to send a whole bass to USA.
I suggest you contact Dana B. Goods, they should hook you up with a decent plan.

Yep, ultimately thats what I will have to do, I guess.Thought I could get away with simply just ordering it online. Guess not.
Thanks for the word on that.

Why would anyone epoxy a nut to the board? The only way to fix it is with 4/1 ratio of wood glue and water.

If Dana B Goods can't help you out, these guys sell Just a Nuts via mail order.

http://www.banzaieffects.com/Nuts-c-984.html

...and their shipping cost is quite reasonable:

Cool - glad to help

I'm sure they would be able to get the lefty nuts for you.

Another that probably stocks Warwick Just a Nuts would be thomann.de

Excellent. I've never dealt with them (I'm in Australia), but the service from Dana B Goods always seems to be right on.
