I think that I got the smoke smell out of my strap.

I got a nice old black leather strap with a bass a while back. I tried everything to get the smoke smell out. I tried Dawn dishwashing soap, saddle soap, fabreze, water, simple green, etc. Nothing would work and the strap was drying out and gettting damaged.

Finally I just left the strap out on a piece of wood in the bright hot sunlight. Every day or so I would turn it over. I theorize that the UV rays killed the smell. Now I have to condition it.

Just thought that I would pass that along.

A product called WhatOdor .

Saw it on the billy mays tv series that past year and tried it. It works amazing well on anything i've tried it on. I lightly spray my rat fur cabs, outside of bass cases and mixer cases etc that are fabric after a gig and it tackles it.
