Interesting. I fear this was not the right way to fix your custom bass guitar.

There's always replacement necks if it's a bolt on... It's too late now to say standing on the neck was wrong.

It's hard to say without seeing it. Is it bowed in the direction of too much relief?

If it is, and tightening nut didn't help, the nut might be bottomed out and is not providing enough tension. Try loosening the strings, removing the nut, and slip on 2 or 3 washers, reinstall nut and tighten. It wouldn't hurt to put a little oil or grease on the threads while you have the nut off.

ic.

Thank you for all the replys, the action is really high, and the bow on the neck is real visible. The truss is not going to turn anymore, and nothing seems to be working. it has a back bow. It makes a buzz sound when i play.

Take it to a qualified repair person before more damage is done.

Just to get our terminology straight, if by "back bow" you mean that the middle of the neck is higher than the ends, you need to *loosen* your trussrod, not tighten it. (i.e., you should turn it counter-clockwise.)

That might be your problem.

If the neck has a back bow, the rod is too tight. At any rate, I believe you may be in well over your head.....take it to a pro, as suggested in the post #9 above me!

Exactly - if it has a backbow LOOSEN the truss rod nut. You've been making it worse by tightening it.

A front bow doesn't cause buzz! it does the exact opposite.

Pix?

I thought too tight would cause buzzing at the 1st to 5th frets, whereas too lose causes buzzing above the 12th.

Yeah, take a pic so we can see what you are talking about.
