I want to run something you kind folks

Hello everyone!

I want to run something you kind folks. I have a Gibson SG reissue bass I want to mess around with it. I love it, but there are a couple of things I would like to change. I absolutely hate the bridge pickup. I have no need for it. I would like to remove it and cover the gapping hole with a piece of wood or plastic in black. I like to anchor my thumb on the bridge pickup but hate how curved the base for the bridge pickup is. I figured the new cover could act as a decent thumbrest.

Also, by removing the bridge pickup I could swap the stock pickup and drop a DiMarizo Model One I have lying around. The vacant vol / tone knob hole could be used for the splitter switch, so no new drilling required.

Am I missing anything? All opinions, comments, and questions would be appreciated!

Thank you all!

You could do that. Just put the old pickups and hardware in a safe place in case you ever want to restore it or sell it. Had a 1960 EB-0 with one of those Model Ones in it. Did a pretty good job of brightening it up.

It's your bass. But since it's a Gibson, DO NOT make any permanent changes. No routing, no holes, no changes to the body. Make all your changes reversible and save the original parts to preserve the value of the instrument.
