Ibanez Roadgear 5er setup?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi... What an amazing site this is.. If i may i got some questions regarding the action on my axe..

After consulting the fountain of knowledge available here and speaking to a couple friends and muso's i tried to set a nice low action on my bass... The neck is straight and i have lowered the strings as far as i can with no buzz... however when i try go lower i get buzz.. does this mean i need to loosed the truss rod and then try and lower some more at the bridge??

I play on medium strings at the mo but prefer light...

The action feels fine at the first couple frets but as i go further up it gets way too high.. Playable but not the butter i'm tryna achieve??

Otherwise - great bass man!!!

Am i going about this the wrong way??

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Welcome Zolbol,

First, read the sticky at the top of this forum, the one titled: ALL BASIC SETUP QUESTIONS ANSWERED HERE.

But you answer your first question, yes, probably, but you need to go at it systematically. First get the neck right, then the bridge, and the nut too if it needs it.
