Ibanez SR885 Problems: Cutting out, screeching, and more. Please save me!

I think this is where this needs to go. If not, I apologize.

It's Tuesday, and that means band practice. I took a 4 string to practice, and excitedly came home to improve on a few of the things we worked on at practice. I grabbed my Ibanez SR885 off of it's stand and let my head warm up for a minute or two. I started playing and immediately noticed a distorted sound. I kept playing for another minute or two, when suddenly I hit a chord and the tweeter in my cab just screamed. I hit the same chord a few more times to find it to be a repeated occurrence. And, the mixture of distortion and obnoxious highs faded in out every few seconds. I played around to see if anything in particular was a trigger for it, but all of the symptoms were constant. I even muted my strings completely and the tweeter just kept making a loud screech like noise.

I switched to my other two basses to see if it was my cab, which was my first thought. The other two play perfectly. There isn't even the slightest of distortion. And, the tweeter doesn't make a peep. None of pots on the 885 make any noise, so my guess is that it is something deeper.

If you don't feel like reading all of that..

Main things are:
1. Distorted signal
2. Just about everything makes my tweeter scream out
3. Signal fades in and out, but never out completely
4. Other basses work without any of the above

Hopefully some of you can help me out.

Thanks in advance

Yeah, SR885's are active. Unless you switched out the pickups and removed the preamp, that is. Distortion is the first thing you'd hear if the battery was dying, too.
