input jack problem

Sign in to disble this ad
hey, today at rehearsal my bass was not producing any sound when plugged in properly. after a little freaking out, when the lead was HALF in it produceda signal, but not a very good one.

the bass is a marcus miller. i see someone else had a problem with theirs too recently.

question: what does itmean when i only get a signal when the lead is half in? why doesnt it work when its all the way in? how do i fix it?

thanks smart people!

any more info needed let me know. i think this is a fairly common problem tho im sure alot of you can give a diagnosis on that alone.

i would say to check the wires and amke sure they are attached to the correct points on the jack. you might also try bending the tab on the jack in a little bit to see if that improves contact.

Open it up - insert a 1/4" plug into the jack and see what you have. Chances are 99 out of 100 that it's either a broken wire or a bent jack. It's easy to re-solder a wire or replace the jack. You might even just need to bend the jack back into position.
