intense rattling/truss rod question

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got a 6 string Peavey Grind (neck-thru) and the B string rattles badly and most of the other strings rattle when playing on the first few frets. I put the action pretty high up, and it still rattles a little. I want to eliminate the rattle and be able to lower the action. Which way and how much should I turn the truss rod?

No, I've never really had to make any major adjustments on any previous basses...any info/advice is much appreciated.

about 1 credit card

if it matters the B string is pretty close to fretted without me having to touch it.
