intonation of fender Jazz

Sign in to disble this ad
The intonation on my Fender GL Jazz seems to be off after every 5 or 6 hours of play. I tune it correcectly before I adjust the intonation, and the strings are about three months old, played about an hour a day average, the strings are still bright and play well. Does anyone know of the reasons for this,.its frustrating

Maybe you need a new bridge. That should make the problem stop.

Is the intonation going sharp?

"Could" be the saddle is creeping forward due to vibration.
There's a few threads here regarding slipping saddle screws (height ones, but principle is the same) check those before you spend money on a new bridge.

Yes the intonation is going sharp, except on the D string which is flat . I tighten the screw for D to adjust it for sharp and I am getting to the point where the screw is very tight already

Blue (not any other color!) Loctite or clear nail-polish.

You only need a small dab.

I've said it before in other threads like this, but if you get eraser shavings(fuzz) in the screw threads it'll work too. (this REALLY does work)

The saddle shouldn't be back that far that the screw is getting tight.

How is the neck and action? Are the strings high? Are they getting higher? Is your neck straight? High action can make the intonation sharp, and too much relief on the neck (up bow) can make the action high.

You might just need new strings... they are starting to stretch too much. They can stop playing in tune when they get too old.
