Intonation Question, not sure if this is ok

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everyone, Thank you ahead of time for your help. I am current adjusting my intonation on my F-Bass BN5. I have gotten the intonation almost dead on for each string and was surprised to find that the B string saddle was closer to the neck then the E sting saddle. Appart from this surprise, as to be expected from the E string saddle the saddles for A and D continue to get closer to the neck and then slightly away from the neck on the G string (compared to the D string)

I thought that in general the string lenght was always increasing from G to B. So I was serprised to find the B string saddle closer to the neck the the E. Is this OK??? Why might this happen, or is it possible I am doing something wrong (I have checked a number of times).

Thanks for the information. I really appreciate it.

Jonathan

It is to be expected IF you are using a tapered B
With fully wrapped strings, yes the B should end up longer than the E

Thanks a lot for the response. I am using a tappered B (the Super Step, La bella's). It's nice to know that I am not crazy.

Have a great day.
