Intonation screw wrench for '08 MIA Jazz bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I'm setting up my new MIA Jazz, and everything's going well- new strings, truss rod where I want it, plays great. After adjusting the truss rod though, the intonation's off. No problem, except I can't figure out what size hex wrench to use! I've got a pretty decent hex key index (US and metric), but none of them fit. This bass was a GC closeout with no case, so I don't have the case candy.

Help!

My MIA Deluxe uses screws - and a screwdriver, not a hex wrench for intonation. Are you talking about saddle height adjustment?

Forgive me if I am wrong....but I thought you use regular Phillips screw driver to adjust intonation on bass bridges.

The 08 MIA bridges are not straight-up phillips-head screwdriver adjustments. Mine came with a kind of rounded tool in the case candy that does the job... Let me see if I can track down any more info.

EDIT: It appears to have "socket head" screws, whatever that means. I'm no expert.

My '80s P Bass uses flathead screw heads, but this definitely has a hex head on the intonation screws. I know the '08s have a new "High Mass Vintage" bridge, so I guess that accounts for the difference.

This is what the tool that came with the case candy looks like. It's shaped like an allen wrench, but has this kind of rounded head. I'm pretty poor when it comes to handyman skills and verbiage, so I can't tell you any more, sorry!

It's a 7/64" Allen key.

Heh heh, you said "ball driver", heh heh...

I just got a straight allen wrench which is fine for adjusting intonation, but I can see where the ball end would make it easier for adjusting the truss rod.
