J neck on P Bass; Rosewood or Maple

Hello TB,

Thinking about putting a mighty mite J neck on my MIM P bass. I've upgraded the bridge (Gotoh 201), tuners (grovers) and pickups (quarter pounders).

Regarding fretboard wood choices:
1. Is maple going to be that much brighter than rosewood?
2. Is it faster than rosewood?
3. Does it age differently than rosewood/require more care?
4. Considering 1-3, is maple a suitable fretboard wood for metal/drone/doom/prog rock
