Jazz Bass Modification - need Held

i think i was wrong in the luthiers corner, so i try it again here

Hello to everybody,

i tryed to search on several Forums and Google itself, but i´m still not coming to a real result, so i hope to find answers here.

I normally play an 4-String Musicman MM Stingray, witch i like a lot and i´m very happy with. Now i´m searching for a backup bass for gigs, and get my hands on a Mex Fender Jazz Bass in arctic white.

Im now tryin to convert the jazz bass in some other beast, to backup my stingray and also to have fun to build a real "frankenstein".

- First i replaced the Jazz Bass Neck with a normal Warmouth precision neck in Birdseye maple with the same frettboard, because i like the "beefier" feel of the neck that is near to my Stingray Neck

- now the problems beginn, i want to replace the bridge Pickup with a Musicman replacement (seymour duncan) pickup. at the same place the normal MM Pickup sits, and let the neck Pickup in its place.

so: is there any information about good convertions like this on the net, maybe with special pickguards etc. It also be possible to use a mill to fixture and to make place for the pickup. In this case, are there any infomation on the net WHERE EXACTLY a MM Pickup and a Bridge Fender Pickup sits in the body.

any ideas anyone?

thank you very much, greetings from Germany/Black Forest high up in snow

P.S. i know i also need an aktive circuit to get closer to the stingray sound, i will decide that later.

PPS. the bridge in the fender Mex is not very sturdy, any recommondations also to get a MM "look" ?

Wow! A real proper relic. History written all over it. + 1 on the 2 vol knobs, blends never really seem to function as you'd like (=like they should)

Wow! Looks like it spent most of it's life at the bottom of a lake. Did you do those pickup routs with a hatchet?? That poor, poor bass...

I'm sorry. I just couldn't help myself.

nice Bass ...

At the moment, i think i whould replace the bridge Pickup with a Duncan SMB-4d or a DELANO MC 4 FE and a neck DELANO JMVC 4 FE/M2, combined with a Duncan Active 3-Band Tone Circuit STC-3M4 (with i had in an older Stingray and liked a lot).

So i only have to make Place for one MM Pickup and could use a normal Jazz Pickguard.

any Suggestions ?

i once had a normal stingray with the duncan Pickup and electronic, and it sounded very good, but im up to other suggestions. Im also interested in special Pickguard constructions etc.
