Jazz flats tuning issue

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently made the transition to flats on my 96 MIM Jazz, and I've noticed it doesn't hold a tune quite as well as it used to. I can probably get through 6 songs in practice before I've gotta check my tuning again. When I used rounds, I could go multiple practices without a tune if the tuners didn't get bumped in the gig bag or anything.

I'm going to end up modding this thing out and replacing the machines eventually, but can't afford it just yet. Any suggestions on temporary fixes?

How recently? They could still be stretching and settling in.

once the strings have been on a few weeks, they should stay in tune just as long as your rounds.

I've had them on there for maybe three weeks now, and I play at LEAST an hour a day, usually 2, 3-4 hours twice a week for practice. I thought I was waiting long enough to post this.
