The Jazz says "AHHHHH!!!!"

My Jazz screams bloody murder when played with a pick...and what i mean is I get nasty little fret noise, and my action is quite high by standard. I don't normally play with a pick anyway, but just curious if anyone else has this problem. Could this be why more pick players play a Precision?

If it's an active bass you could roll off the treble a little bit. If it's passive try turning the tone knob down. If that doesn't work try switching strings to a less brighter type of nickel or flat wound set. Mess with your EQ on your amp. I'm sure you can get the clackiness out.

when I play with a pick, I'm after attack...and usually I'm doing a bit of wrist muting on the strings and this helps me control the "bite" a bit...
