Jerry-rigging a strap extension

I've got an acoustic bass that has a strap button at the neck joint. It's about 4" from the 12th fret. Anyone have any ideas about how I could extend the strap out? I had thought about some sort of bracket with a screw and washer in the neck and bolt for the strap button. I think I'll go to Lowe's and dig through the bins.

Do you mean extend the strap if so like the used to do acustic guitar in 60 / 70s with a shoe lace

No I was thinking of attatching something like the Steinberger Synapse Strap Hook or Rick Tuner's REN-4D Dingus. I found some threads re: this, but am looking for the specific part name(s).

What issue do you want to address with the strap pin extension? Neck dive? Even out sitting & standing positions of the bass?

I'd like to address the neck dive, I suppose. I have to tighten the strap up so the body rests against my chest, which makes my wrists bend at uncomfortable angles when playing. Otherwise, the neck points to the ground.

I do find my AEB will neck-dive, but not much. A rough-sided strap takes care of it for me; cheap leather strap with as rough a 'down' side as you can find & a cotton shirt does fine here.
