Just Installed A Badass II

Sign in to disble this ad
I just installed a Badass II Bridge on my MIM Fender/Warmoth Bass. I bought this bass about 10 years ago (man I feel old). About 3 years ago I started to get a serious itch for new gear but really couldn't afford a new bass, so I opted to upgrade the stock painted alder body on my bass for a solid walnut body through warmoth. That was a huge enhancement. Now I just upgraded the bridge to a Badass II, I'm very happy with the results. I think there's definately a difference in tone, however my stock bridge was practically falling apart also. The saddles kept randomly unscrewing themselves and the springs would rattle and buzz. Now I need to look at upgrading my pickups, I play a lot of slap and tend to play in a bit of a jazzier style even though I play in a contemporary worship band that has more of a rock style to it. Any suggesting would be appreciated, btw I don't want to reroute the body, so I'll need to stay with the 2 j-pu style.

Those 2 holes you see on the sides of the bridge are for the P-bass Bridge cover I used to have. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit any more because the Badass is a lot longer than the stock bridge.

highly suggestive, but like username I am a fan of the DiMarzio DP123 J set, or also called model J. It is a drop in replacement, it will work well for rock. However they sound thick, like really thick, and you may need to eq for a good slap sound, or just solo the bridge, they also have a ton of output. This is the crush all J set

For a clean true J sound, custom shop 60s Jazz bass set from Fender can't be beat IMO. You can go all crazy with pickups for a while then come back to good ol Fender pups

forgot about these, tonally to me very close to the Custom 60s Jazz set, between the two, I would go for the one on sale

you may want to ask pickup questions in the electronics section, more suggestions probably there
