Tort with the rosewood fingerboard... if the neck were maple I'd be saying the black.

NO PLASTIC!

No plastic. WOOD! Wood basses. Don't wreck them with plastic.

As a matter of fact I currently have a walnut pickguard I hand made on it right now Maybe ill try to get a pic up tonight.

Problem is its hand made lol and I havent the skill to make an excellent one. I am considering getting more walnut or even rosewood and giving it another try.

Stratocaster?... thats my other project

In the pics, the headstock says stratocaster

I think they both look good. Black pearloid would be another option to consider. I'm putting black pearloid on the P I am currently building (pearl white body, Wenge J neck with a Bubinga fingerboard), so I'm kinda biased right now.

on a P-bass, where that little corner of the guard supports the output jack? i'd give it a week before it broke.

you mean that all-out red, white, blue and black swirl that some fender picks have? i've never seen that on a pickguard! (could be interesting, though)

I actually broke that area when I was making the pot hole in my walnut guard. Its a side output jack however so not much issue.

I think everyone loves tort Lol now I need to find someone who won't charge me 100 bucks or more :/

Thanks for all votes!

I hate plain plastic, I prefer tortoise, or black or white pearloid. The plain, solid, plastics, just look plastic to me. Yeah, I know, they're all plastic, but some look more plastic than others.

Black for Rock/Punk
Red Tort for everything else (red's still classy but with an edge)
