Thinking of installing one of these on my Fodera. Thing is, it's my main bass and it requires some routing, so once it's done there's no going back to the original bridge. It's a high end bass that was custom made for me so I don't want to make a mistake.

What are your experiences with the tone compared to the same bass with a standard bridge?

Also I do a lot of palm muting so I can't tell if the arm might get in the way or if there are any sharp screws or metal coming up. I don't have anywhere to try a bass that has one of these installed.

If I can do palm muting comfortably as I do now with the Fodera bridge & tone of the bass is basically the same, I can see myself happy with the bridge & it's added feature.

If there are any other tremolo bridges out there they might be a better choice let me know. Can only do it once so I want to make sure I've considered all the options.

From pics I've seen, it kind of looks like the tremolo arm might be in the way. But maybe when it's removed it's fine?

The sound shouldn't really change at all.

With the bar on, it did get in my way a little for palm muting, it's fine with the bar removed IIRC. The saddles do have one or two sharp points, can't remember if they're out of the way or not.

There are quite a few other trem options, the only one that I can think of that'd compare with the Kahler is the Hipshot Bass Trem, one I'm dying to try myself.
