Keeping bridge screws and springs in place

Sign in to disble this ad
My Avella-Coppolo LG5 with the bent plate bridge is driving me crazy! First the springs and screws that drive the saddle for intonation were loose and fell out, and now the allen bolts that adjust the saddle height are loosening up and self adjusting. I've been able to somewhat solve the spring problem by stretching the springs. But the saddles! I was on an audition the other day and my E string went flat in the middle of a song from the saddle bolts loosening and the saddle dropping.

I thought of using nail polish or similar but don't want to gunk up anything on the bass and make it hard for my setup guy to adjust things. I also checked on stewmac.com looking for something I can use.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Id just replace the bridge. One loose screw is one thing but sounds like yours is all loose and a mess. The Ibanez sr300 I had did have one bridge saddle whose screw holes where too big causing the asdjustment screws to self lower the bridge from playing vibration. Fixed it by dipping those two screws in elmers glue. Then reinserting them and letting dry. When the glue dried all was fine and screws where nicely tight. But if it had been more then one saddle would have replaced the whole bridge.
