Knob Question

Sign in to disble this ad
The other day the konb for my neck pickup volume fell off and I was wondering if there was any special way to repair it. I could tell by just looking at it all I would have to do is tighten it back on with an allen wrench, but is there anything I should do to make sure it dosent fall off again? I also noticed there was a little indentation where it was screwed on the metal peg from before. Any help or advice is appreciated, thanks.

If the knob is plastic, it may have small a crack in it not allowing for a strong tightening. If not, just give it a good tightening. They have a tendency to work loose.

Nah -- just tighten it.

IF the shaft is actually a split shaft -- e.g. if this pot had been replaced incorrectly at some point -- you'd want to line up the set screw with the SPLIT -- so it doesn't collapse one of the halves of the shaft, which would let it keep coming loose. But if it's a solid shaft, just put the knob back and tighten it. There's stuff to keep screws like that from coming loose, but I think that's overkill.

Cheers!
