Knobs

I bought 2 volume and 1 tone knob designed for a 72 Telecaster, because i wanted to put them on my jazz bass. They fit, except there are grooves inside them (i guess to fit to the Tele pots) All i need to do is sand these down and they will fit like a glove. Any ideas?

Here are what the knobs look like:

The grooves in your Tele style knobs are made to "press fit" on split shaft style pots like the Tele guitar, Strat, and other Fender models. If your Jazz uses split shaft, you should be OK, just press them on. If the stock Jazz knobs have set screws, you have solid shaft pots in the Jazz.

While you might be able to press the Tele knobs on with a little work, they will eventually get loose and either fall off or just spin on the solid shaft.

If you're sure you want the Tele knobs and your bass has solid shafts, just get three quality CTS 250K split shaft pots and change them for the solid shaft ones in the bass. If you can use a soldering iron, it's no big deal to change them out.

Keep Low

You might look and see if you can find the same type of knobs in set-screw form instead. Less alterations and such.

Yes. When you need set-screw knobs for pots with smooth shafts, nothing else will work right and stay in place. Get 'em.

The tone pot on my Squire P is missing the tiny allen set screw and our local music shop does`nt carry them.Checked at both Lowe`s and OSH but nobody stocks such small (metric?)allen screws. The shaft is the split-end type, btw.Where can I get new pots w/screws? Help!My bass looks really "ghetto"!

Opinions on the dice pots?Made from actual dice.Would that look lame?
