I've seen them, but I have no idea who made them.

Why not just get the real thing? They work and work well when set up properly. I'm pretty sure I've seen a Schaller as well, but I can't see it being any less expensive.

I would suggest hanging over in the accessories classifieds. Something might pop up for a good deal there. I've personally only seen Hipshot versions.

I have to imagine that a cheap-o would work poorly & only aggravate me- I'd fork out the whopping $60(or $40-$50 used). Not a dig at the OP- I'm broke too...

Buying junk usually costs more. The junk breaks and a second purchase follows. Half price junk purchased twice costs just as much as good stuff purchased once.

Purchasing good hardware today is an investment in the future. It can be removed and installed on another instrument at a later date. Wait a month and buy good hardware.

No price is a bargain unless you get quality.

thanks again for the advice

I usually do agree with spending the money for quality parts but for some reason I just cannot see putting one tunner on that is half the price of the bass hahaha actually that does sound like a great idea because I love this bass and its gonna get played a LOT

thanks

Understood.

It begs the question though. Would you purchase an inexpensive pickup for this guitar? Of course not. Upgrading means UP-grading. Good parts last a very long time and can be moved from one instrument to another. Remember, top notch hardware does not increase the value of an inexpensive instrument by much. You buy the parts for their value to you.

I definitely think you should if you want a detuner. They pop up every now and then on the classifieds, so keep an eye out!

They can be had for cheap. I scored one (Hipshot; I've never seen an off-brand one) on the 'bay for around $35 a year or so ago.
