Korg DTR-2000 ok for intonation?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I was setting the intonation on one of my basses the other day, and the though occured to me that hadn't in the past.....is this tuner satisfactory for setting it up??? So far, it seems to be ok, but then theres always that bit of self doubt...ya know...that your ears aren't quite as good as you think they are.

So is this tuner ok for it? I found that i can get a more stable readout if i use the "bass" mode, rather than chromatic. Is that correct too??

It's fine. Korg digital tuners are about as accurate as any digital tuner you'll find.

You have to remember that intonation is always going to be a compromise to some degree. We tend to intonate at the octave because is a simple process and tends to get notes in the common real estate pretty close. But, it is not magic. Even if you got that one note absolutely perfect within the tolerance of the best strobe tuner on the planet, you'd still have only one note perfect.

This.

I tend to do my intonation in different places along the neck for my ERBs, depending on where I play most often. I don't often play below the 8th fret on my G, C or F strings, so I tend to intonate them using the 19th fret harmonic and the 19th fret. Just the opposite on my low F#, B, and E-strings, where I rarely play above the 10th fret.
