A little issue with my new pbass, help

I just got me a beautiful American precision and it sounds and plays great except for one thing. On the low E string it seems to lose a little coherency the further you move down the neck, So that when fret and hang on the notes beyond the 9th and 10 frets the whole room vibrates and the notes don't ring very clear. Strange, is this an intonation issue maybe?

Most probably it's something mechanical....intonation off, nut slot cut improperly, pick up too high, or simply a bad string. Or a combination of simple things. Hard to tell without seeing it. If you can't figure it out bring it to a tech, should be a quick fix. MIA Fenders are usually great instruments.

Based on the what you are describing, my first thought is that you have a problem with the equalization on your amplifier.

^^^^^This.... or the pickup is too close to the string.

Lower the pickup on the E string side.
