Loose Bridge

Sign in to disble this ad
I just replace the bridge on my bass to a Hipshot A style. It fits fine for the most part EXCEPT for it being too high for the neck so the strings will slide out of the groove. The problem is that this bass is a Conklin Groove Tools Bass, which has a realllly deep neck pocket. I'm thinking my three options right now are to shim the neck, try to get a rout so the bridge sits lower, or file the slots on the bridge. Any comments?

re neck

Hi,

I would shim it first before taking the power tools to it!! A 10/thousandth of an inch shim gives about a 1/32" decrease in string height at the end of the neck.... I used to use automotive feeler gauges to use as shims to get it really dialed in (they are cheap to buy) and go from there. I would try that first and see if it helps. If you have any ques feel free to pm me !

good luck
