Loose stingray hh screw

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello everyone. On my stingray 5 HH, it seems a screw on the bridge pickup is loose. It is the screw at the top of the pickup, closest to the bridge. Whenever I rest my thumb on it, it seems to unscrew itself a bit, then I have to make an adjustment to level out the pickup again due to the slant it creates when unscrewed. It doesn't create a dramatic slant, but just enough for me to have to adjust it. was wondering if any of you know how to fix this problem, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

okay, i will maybe get slammed for this, but I would use either loctite thread lock, or a small drop of glue on the tip.
I would take the screw out and apply it, then screw it back to where it belongs.
Or if I didnt have that I would pull out my countless years of watching MacGyver, hail Richard Dean Anderson, and use a little piece of tape on the end to or thread tape like plumbers use just to fatten the screw a little. Although it would not take alot.

If I use a glue on the screw, after I screw it in, will i be able to adjust the screw without causing damage? Because you never know when you want to change the setup a little and I might have to adjust pickup height and I wouldn't want to damage the instrument.

if you use super glue you will. You could also just put a slightly fatter screw in. If the screw keeps loosening, then it sounds like the screw has become too small for the thread. Essentially, what i have said previous are just ways of fattening up the screw, when the easiest is probably getting a fatter screw.

Thanks, I guess I'll try that. I'll see if I have any fatter screws, if not, I'll just use the plumbers tape. Thanks for the replies

yeah, fatter screw or plumbers thread tape. The rest is extreme measures created from lack of sleep and no coffee.
